PEREVENIA SHANMUGANATHAN worked as an education counsellor after earning a Diploma in Accounting. She then became a home tutor for primary and secondary school students in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
After three years, she wished to communicate better with her students and offer them counselling services so she enrolled in IPD’s 12-month Professional Diploma in Counselling Psychology programme. It was offered together with the Malaysian branch of the College of Allied Educators in Singapore.
“I discovered many new things about counselling and psychology. The modules provided were comprehensive and related to our lives. The lecturers were well-equipped with knowledge of the subjects they were teaching,” says Perevenia, 25.
“The programme has broadened my perspective of different segments of society and helped me to become a more compassionate and open-minded person in working with the community,” she adds.
